Fort Gay Becomes a Sanctuary City

A town in Wayne County became the first municipality in West Virginia to declare itself a sanctuary for the Second Amendment. Fort Gay Mayor Joetta Hatfield said on Friday that the town council was motivated by the recent events in Virginia, where lawmakers have passed various gun control bills. The Fort Gay town council adopted an ordinance that establishes Fort Gay as a sanctuary against any attempt by lawmakers to infringe Second Amendment rights. Putnam County was the first in West Virginia to become a sanctuary county.
