Hundreds Attend Fallen Firefighter’s Service

Emergency workers from across the state gathered Saturday to pay their final respects to a fallen Roane County firefighter. A visitation and funeral service was held for Mark Horwich, who died Jan. 11 when a fire truck he was driving crashed while responding to a fire. Horwich was a member of both the Clover and Roan-Spencer volunteer fire departments. Members from both departments and several others attended the service at Roane County High School, and WCHS TV reported 55 emergency vehicles adorned in black ribbons escorted Horwich to his final resting place.
