Money is Being Raised to Support School Name Change

With the pending name change at Stonewall Jackson Middle School, things like signs, sports and band uniforms, and the mural of Stonewall Jackson on the back of the school need to be replaced. WCHS TV reported one group has quietly been raising money for the campaign. Charleston City Councilwoman Jennifer Pharr and several other people have gotten community members and graduates to pledge $46,000 to support the school’s long-term success. The group wants to help beautify the outside, but also change the school’s atmosphere inside by having community leaders speak and tutor students regularly, introducing them as possible role models.
