WVSU Renames Building

A campus building and its surrounding property at West Virginia State University have been named in honor of the school’s former president and his wife. The university’s Board of Governors approved naming the facilities after former WVSU President Hazo Carter and his wife, Judge Phyllis Carter. The Carters served as president and first lady of WVSU from 1987 to 2012. They passed away in 2014. The Dr. Hazo W. Carter Jr. Integrated Research and Extension Building is located on the site of the former West Virginia Rehabilitation Center property on the university’s Institute campus.
