Pfizer Says Vaccine Testing is a Success for Ages 5 to 11

Pfizer said Monday its COVID-19 vaccine works for children ages 5 to 11 and it will ask the FDA for authorization soon. The Pfizer vaccine is already available for anyone 12 and older, but the shot for younger children could be especially important for schools. A Pfizer senior VP told the Associated Press that a much lower dose — a third of the amount that’s in each shot given now – has been effective for kids 5 to 11 in clinical tests. Moderna is also studying its shots in elementary school-aged children. Results are expected later in the year.
