Antibody Treatments Prove to be Effective in Active Cases

The Kanawha-Charleston Health Department has had over 50 people receive a COVID-19 antibody infusion since beginning them on Friday. This is for people with COVID but not sick enough to be hospitalized and have been referred by their doctor. Dr. Sherri Young said they are giving the antibodies to active cases to bind to the COVID virus and it help the body clear the virus more quickly. They still have to finish a 10-day quarantine and some symptoms can remain, but Dr. Young said overall the cases do improve. Most active cases either didn’t get the shot, or did not get both doses. The goal is to help them recover outside of hospitals.
