Putnam County Schools Will Leave Masks Optional

The Putnam County Board of Education has updated its mask policy after another heated meeting with parents. WCHS TV said board members voted unanimously to leave masks optional, unless they hit certain thresholds of students testing positive for COVID-19. The new policy will work on a school-by-school basis and is based on the percentage of students who test positive. For grades nine through 12th, if 25% of the students test positive there will be universal mask mandate. For grades Pre-K through eight, if 15% of the students test positive, there will be a universal mask mandate. The mandates will last for five days, and then the board will reassess.
