Manna Meal held its 12th annual bean stringin’ event last Saturday at the Capitol Market to provide people of all ages a chance to support local farmers. For nearly half a century, soup kitchens like Charleston’s Manna Meal have served roughly 400 meals every day. Local Michael Houeston opted to volunteer on his Saturday to support those facing food scarcity in the capital city. The next step for Manna Meal will be to freeze the beans to supply Charleston’s soup kitchen for the rest of the year
