Chirstmas lights stolen from Charleston home

Just like the Grinch who stole Christmas, someone is stealing Christmas lights. Police are looking for four suspects who used wire cutters to steal decorations and four-hundred-dollars’ worth of LED Christmas lights from a home in Charleston.

Name released in deadly Greenbrier County house fire

Officials are releasing the name of the woman who was killed in a Greenbrier County house fire. Twenty-five-year-old Oreanna Myers died in the fire along with five children. Myers was the biological mother of three of the children. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Rock shatters SUV’s rear window in parking garage

Police are investigating after someone threw a rock in the parking garage at Charleston Town Center and shattered the rear window of an SUV. No one was hurt. The rock was about the size of a baseball. Charleston police are working to ensure your shopping trip is safe and will escort you to your car.

Mylan Pharmaceutical plant will shut down by July

Mylan Pharmaceuticals in Morgantown will shut down next summer, eliminating 15-hundred jobs. Viatris, the company that owns the plant, says up to twenty-percent of it global workforce may be affected by restructuring. The company completed a merger last month the Pfizer’s Upjohn unit. The site has produced medicine since 1965.

Chemical plant explosion didn’t affect air quality

The Chemical Safety Board, EPA and OSHA are investigating a deadly chemical explosion in Belle earlier this week. A Hurricane man was killed, and it forced a shelter in place order for two-miles around the plant. WVU’s final football game canceled

WVU’s final football game of the season against Oklahoma is being canceled. WVU is pausing team activities due to COVID cases. The Mountaineers finish the season with a 5-and-4 record, and will wait to see if they get an invitation to a bowl game.

Enrollment down at WV community and technical colleges

Enrollment at West Virginia community and technical colleges is down by 17-percent compared to last year. Three-thousand fewer full-time and dual enrollment high schools are taking classes in 2020. Enorollment is down nearly three-percent at Four-year colleges and universities.

Over 20,000 active cases of COVID-19 in WV

There are more than 12-hundred new cases of COVID-19 in West Virginia, and over twenty-thousand active cases. Twenty more people have died. Almost forty counties are in the red or orange on the daily COVID-19 alert map.

FDA panel recommends emergency us of COVID-19 vaccine

An FDA panel is recommending emergency use authorization for a COVID-19 vaccine. Formal approval from the FDA could come within days. Governor Justice says the state is requesting over 16-thousand dosed a week, and an initial allocation of 60-thousand doses.
