Cabell County school board proposes new levy rates

The Cabell County Board of Education approved the proposed levy rates for the 2023-2024 school year at its board meeting this week. Board members approved a general levy of just over 19 cents per $100 of assessed value and an excess levy of just under 23 cents per $100 of assessed value. The levies are put in place by the West Virginia Legislature. Members said the bond levy is down slightly this year, so there is a slight reduction in taxes for the upcoming year. That rate is just over 5 cents per $100 of assessed value. Members plan to certify the levy rates in April.
