Former Charleston mayor Danny Jones is downsizing. He posted on his Facebook page that he is moving out of his seven-thousand-square-foot South Hills home and is moving into at downtown apartment that is closer to his Quarrier Street BBQ stand.

Over 40,000 register for COVID-19 vaccine

More than forty-thousand people have pre-registered for the COVID-19 vaccine with state’s new online registration system. There is still an issue with telephone registration. Callers are getting a message that the line is out and won’t be available until February. Verizon is working on the issue.

COVID-19 numbers improve

West Virginia COVID-19 numbers are showing signs of improvement. The gap between recovered patients and actives cases is widening. There are more than five-hundred new cases of the virus, and the number of active cases is below twenty-five-thousand. Four more people have died.

West Virgina touts vaccine success rate

West Virginia health officials are touting a 106-perecent success rate in administering the COVID-19 vaccine. The state is achieving that rate by getting more doses out of each vial. Health workers are often able to get six doses out of a five-dose Pfizer vaccine vial. And eleven doses out of a ten-dose Moderna vial.

Wind farm construction underway

Work is underway to build a 115-megawatt windfarm along the Grant-Mineral county line. Clearway Energy is spending more than 200-million dollars on the project that they hope to have up and running by the end of the year. There are more than 200 construction workers on the project that will include nearly two-dozen turbines.
