PEIA will not raise rates next year

The Public Employees Insurance Agency will not raise premiums for state employees next year. The Board approved 2021-22 coverage plans with no changes in benefits. The agency is looking ahead to the following year, and anticipates a rate hike.

South Charleston police spreading cheer

South Charleston Police are spreading some holiday cheer. They are giving away Chick-Fil-A gift cards instead of traffic tickets. The Fraternal Order of Police bought 500-dollars’ worth of gift cards and donated them to the police department.

Mother convicted of killing 16-month-old

An Ohio jury convicted a Crown City woman of murder for the shooting death of her sixteen-month-old daughter earlier this year. Twenty-five-year-old Joyceann Louise Ruane faces up to life in prison without parole.

Ex-WV Supreme Court Justice released from prison

Former state Supreme Court Justice, Allen Loughry, is out of prison. He spent the last two years behind bars for mail and wire fraud connected to his personal use of state cars and fuel cards. He’ll be on probation for three-years.

Police Investigate a Shooting on Washington Street East

One person was hospitalized after a shooting Wednesday night in Charelston. It happened near the 7-Eleven station along Washington Street East not far from the Capitol Complex. Initial reports were that the injuries were not non-life threatening. Police are investigating.
