Charleston to Hire Mental Health Coordinator

The City of Charleston announced Monday night it will hire its first mental health coordinator. The position will be funded with Community Development Block Grant funds and that person will work as a part of Mayor Amy Goodwin’s CARE Office and will be responsible for coordinating the work of a mental health response team comprised of the city of Charleston’s staff, mental health experts, homeless shelters and social service providers. The CARE Office will reach out to up to 30 individuals or families each month and address mental health and social service needs.
