City Council passes the Charleston budget

Charleston City Council members passed the City’s 2023-2024 budget at their meeting Monday evening. Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin said the budget puts a plan in place to make sure no city employees are making less than $15 an hour, while also keeping healthcare costs flat. Goodwin also said the budget does not include any new taxes or fees and does not cut or eliminate any essential services. The budget goes into effect on July 1, 2023.
