Former Holz Elementary teacher’s aides have trials delayed until this summer

The trials for two former Holz Elementary teacher’s aides, who worked alongside a teacher now spending 10 years in jail for abusing special needs students, have been continued. Lori Gibson and Lisa Perdue trials have been continued because of Gibson’s attorney’s health situation. Perdue’s attorney wanted a continuance to keep the cases together. Gibson is charged with seven counts of failure to report, while Perdue is charged with six counts of the same misdemeanor crime. Both women have since been fired from Kanawha County Schools after the alleged abuse was uncovered when a student in the classroom reported an incident to another school employee, who in turn went to the school’s administration. Their trials have been set for July 31, 2023.
