Hobet Mine Site Continues to Make Progress

The company that is planning a 4,500-acre transformation of the former Hobet mine site reports the work is on schedule. A portion of the mine property in Boone and Lincoln counties is poised to become Sun Park, a multi-use development. Seva WV announced the project in April, which includes a roughly 3,000-acre solar farm, an industrial park, athletic fields, a sports park and places to stay. Crews have been clearing land and trees off of Route 119 and a helicopter pad is being added. Those behind the project say a large amount of progress will be seen on the property by 2024.
