One hundred fifty inmates and several correctional officers plan to file a federal civil rights lawsuit against Southern Regional Jail. The suit cites deplorable living conditions at the jail in Raleigh County. A 30-day notice of their intent to file the lawsuit was given on July 26, and Southern Regional Jail has 30 days from when the letter of intent was filed to provide their response. The cases could come in waves and any cases of violence or serious medical malpractice would be filed separately.
