CPS workers fired and charged in fatal abuse case

Two Child Protective Service workers are out of a job and charged with misdemeanors involving the abuse of a four-year-old boy who later died. They’re charged with involuntary manslaughter and failing to report suspected abuse. The boy’s mother and her boyfriend are also facing charges.

South Charleston Police Department to Hold Recruiting Event This Weekend

Donations Will Help Volunteer Fire Departments

Kanawha County Schools will offer a free summer academy to help kids get back on track after months of virtual learning. The program will give students the opportunity to retake a class or catch up on credits. The free summer academy is available to all students pre-K through high school for the month of June.

Huntington putting a stop to illegal bars

The Huntington City Council is considering two ordinances to put a stop to illegal bars. The city attorney says there has been a surge of businesses opening as “game rooms,” in an effort to circumvent the West Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Administration and city requirements for bars.
