Scammers Are Impersonating Huntington Police Officers

Police in Huntington are warning the community of a scam involving someone claiming to be an officer trying to obtain personal information. The Huntington Police Department said it has received multiple reports of the scam within recent months.
Earlier this week, a Huntington resident reported receiving telephone calls from an individual who claimed to be officer Jones Anderson with the police department in an attempt to gain bank account numbers. Late last month, an individual claiming to be deputy Martin Rodgers with the Huntington Police Department called residents stating that they had failed to respond to an HPD-issued subpoena. The police department said it will never solicit money or payments over the phone. Anyone who receives those types of calls is asked to call the Huntington Police Departments non-emergency number at 304-696-4470.
