State Police Recruit a Big Class of Potential Troopers

West Virginia State Police wrapped up statewide recruiting efforts last Friday, and recruits had a final chance to try out for the 71st cadet class. Eyewitness News took a look at how a $10,000 pay raise is making a difference, with starting salaries up to $55,000. The bump has made West Virginia State Police competitive with other agencies struggling to find new officers. State police have 129 potential candidates to fill about 65 slots currently. The candidates who survived the screening tests so far still face background checks.
