Storm Left Thousands Without Power

Power outages were part of Monday’s winter storm with about 23,000 without power around midday Monday. The large majority of the outages – nearly 14,000 – were reported in Kanawha County, according to Appalachian Power. Most of the outages were in the Elk River communities. Outages were also reported in Lincoln, Wayne, Mingo, Logan, Boone, Clay, Jackson, Putnam and Roane counties. Crews worked as quickly as they could to restore power.
