Trial is Continued for a Woman Accused DUI Causing Death

The trial for a woman accused of killing two people in a car crash on Interstate 77 has been continued. Edriene D. Sutton’s trial is now scheduled for March 27, 2023. Her council said they are waiting on an independent lab test, and the lab is backlogged. Sutton is accused of driving a vehicle while under the influence and striking another vehicle on the interstate about 3 a.m. on Feb. 26 and she’s charged with DUI causing death. A passenger in Sutton’s vehicle, 27-year old Brittany J. Weldon and the driver of the second vehicle, 37-year old Joshua D. Robinson were pronounced dead at the scene. Police said a bottle of Bombay Sapphire Dry Gin was found in the driver’s floorboard of Sutton’s vehicle following the crash and showed signs of impairment.
