Police Officer Resigns After Battery Charge

A Charleston police officer has resigned after being charged with battery. 22-year old Chelsea McCoy of St. Albans turned herself in on a battery charge last week. The victim in the case and McCoy got into a fight at a party at that St. Albans home on January 23rd and the criminal complaing said both McCoy and the victim were intoxicated. McCoy claimed she was acting in self-defense. McCoy resigned from the Charleston Police Department last week after being sworn in last June.
