Two First Responders Are Killed in Ambulance Crash

Two Jan-Care first responders were killed early Saturday morning in an ambulance crash in Nicholas County. The ambulance crashed on Route 19 in the Summersville area with no patient on board. The two EMTs were returning to their station from a hospital-to-hospital transfer in Morgantown. The two have been identified as Brittany Young of Glean Jean and Ronald Dick II of Shady Spring. Troopers said it appeared the Jan Care ambulance struck the rear of a tractor trailer, which was parked in the right truck lane. West Virginia State Police are investigating.
