A West Virginia senator wants to see part of Virginia become part of West Virginia. The Mountain State split from Virginia when it was formed in 1863. Sen. Charles Trump, R-Morgan, introduced a resolution Friday requesting that the citizens of Frederick County, Virginia consider becoming a part of West Virginia. The resolution will be taken up on the floor of the state Senate today. The resolution said that Frederick County “may truly be regarded as the mother” of seven West Virginia counties – Jefferson, Berkeley, Morgan, Hampshire, Mineral, Hardy and Grant. All of those counties contain territory that was once part of Frederick County, Virginia. The resolution will be taken up on the floor of the state Senate today.
