A Charleston organization will unveil the new street sign that will be shared with Court Street in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. next week. The sign – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way – will be placed at the intersection of Court Street and Brawley Walkway on Monday, Jan. 20, which is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. WCHS TV reported the Charleston City Council made a compromise in December for Court Street to share its name with Martin Luther King Jr. Way after a petition was submitted to rename the street. A ceremony to unveil the sign is set for 1 p.m. Monday by the Charleston-Institute Chapter of the Links Inc. After the ceremony, there will be a symbolic march to the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center at 304 Donnally St. in Charleston and a party for Martin Luther King Jr. beginning at 2 p.m.
