Bank Teller Faces Embezzlement Charge

A South Charleston bank teller is accused of embezzling $222,000 over the course of a little more than six years by making false entries in record books and concealing cash shortages. South Charleston police said they initially investigated the case after being contacted by Pioneer West Virginia Federal Credit Union in South Charleston and the case was later handed over to the U.S. Secret Service. Police said Diane Richardson worked as a vault manager, and the indictment said the embezzlement started in September 2013 and continued through February 2019. Richardson’s trial is scheduled for April 14.
