A study from MIT found that the voting app used in West Virginia has serious security issues. The app was used in the 2018 election by military members’ deployed overseas and absentee voters. The study found that hackers could “alter, stop, or expose how an individual voted.” The company that makes the app says that researchers reviewed an old version of the application, and the Department of Homeland Security has done its own independent assessment and found that the version from 2018 was completely secure.”
