In the coming weeks, governors and school administrators will have to figure out how to return K-12 students to their classrooms. Pressure has been building from the White House for states to reopen elementary and secondary schools. Colorado Gov. Jared Polis said his state plans to reopen schools using a “hybrid” model of in-class and at-home learning. Students and teachers should anticipate times where classes convert to online learning if there is a resurgence of cases. School arrival times could be staggered and students could be health-screened daily. Social distancing could also come to classrooms. West Virginia’s plans to return students to the classroom will be announced over the summer.
