The Kanawha County Commission and a local firm are teaming up to install automatic screening devices for fevers at some key buildings. It will be no-touch, portable devices provided by Charleston-based Aridea Solutions to check employees and the public at the county judicial building once it reopens. Several cases of the coronavirus have been linked to the building, which closed in March. Two units can screen up to 500 people in under 30 minutes. The device reads foreheads 5 inches away and a sensor takes three temperature readings and a light will turn red if a person has a fever and green if they don’t. The devices will be installed at other buildings as needed, including the county courthouse and the voter registration office.
