Organizers of the West Virginia Coal Festival in Boone County said they hope they will be able to have a scaled-down version of the event this year, but they are waiting on approval from Gov. Jim Justice’s Office. The festival is scheduled June 16-20 in Madison. It would be the event’s 27th year if the celebration can occur. All events would be held outdoors, and facemasks would be encouraged. The number of vendors that would participate also is uncertain.
