Foster care families and providers will receive a one-time payment as part of West Virginia’s ongoing response to coronavirus disease. The payment will provide in-state foster families, child placing agencies and residential and emergency shelters additional financial help for costs related to the COVID-19 pandemic over the past several months, according to a news release from the state Department of Health and Human Resources. No specifics were immediately available on how much the payment will be, but it will be based upon the number of children in the home or facility at the end of June 2020. Payment will be received in July 2020.
