A man said he was cleaning a gun Friday night when he accidentally shot his 11-year-old niece. The girl died after the shooting at Fisher’s Mobile Home Park in the Cottageville area. Jackson County deputies said Andrew Scott Jackson has been charged with felony child neglect resulting in death. Deputies said Jackson was not legally permitted to own or possess a gun. Jackson also shot himself in the hand during the accidental shooting. Deputies said two other children were also present in the home at the time of the shooting. Jackson is being held in South Central Regional Jail on a $150,000 bond.
