The Kanawha County School system announced in a Facebook post Thursday that it has decided to cancel the Gazette-Mail Kanawha County Majorette and Band Festival. It had been scheduled Sept. 22 at University of Charleston Stadium at Laidley Field.This would have been the 74th year for the band festival that features bands and majorettes from the county’s eight high schools. Proceeds from the festival go toward high school band programs in the county. Kanawha County students and students in other West Virginia counties are tentatively scheduled to return to school Sept. 8.
