Tom Williams officially began his tenure Wednesday as Kanawha County Schools superintendent. The South Charleston graduate has spent 35 years working in the school system, including 10 as principal at St. Albans High School. Williams’ first school year as superintendent will be unusual, having to navigate the school system through its first full school year since the coronavirus pandemic began. WCHS TV reported his goal is to have students and staff inside the buildings, but it’s unclear what that will look like. The first day of school for students in Kanawha County is set for Aug. 10 and final plans will be released ahead of that.
