The City Encourages Watching Fireworks From Home

Charleston city officials are asking residents to watch fireworks from their homes or to watch from Kanawha Boulevard if they can’t see the display from their back yard. Kanawha Boulevard will be closed for “socially-distant viewing.” The city will launch Fourth of July fireworks at 10 p.m. July 4. The 20-minute show will take place on MacCorkle Avenue across from Leon Sullivan Way. Kanawha Boulevard will be closed between California and Court streets, starting at 4 p.m. Kanawha Boulevard will remain closed until 8 p.m. Sunday. Traffic on the south side of the river will be affected at different times during the evening.
