West Virginia Turnpike traffic shows that July 4 holiday travel was down from last year but trending better than Memorial Day when traffic showed a 26 percent decline. Compared to 2015 when July Fourth fell on the same day, it was off 20 percent, according to Parkways boss Greg Barr. Turnpike officials also looked at an 11-day period around July Fourth. Those numbers showed a 16.3 percent decline.
