WVU Announces Consequences for Students Who Don’t Obey Safety Rules

West Virginia University announced that students who don’t take a coronavirus test and/or complete the COVID-19 education module will be charged a $250 fee and will be referred to the Office of Student Conduct. The university also said that students who don’t comply with the Student Code of Conduct related to personal protective equipment could be issued a written warning, removed from class or receive probation, suspension and/or expulsion.

Students will return to campus Aug. 19. A letter to students said everyone on campus will be expected to practice good personal hygiene, including wearing masks or face coverings, maintaining the appropriate physical distance of 6 feet whenever possible and washing hands frequently.
