The University of Charleston said it will be again reaching out to help the community during a four-day public service project, although this year will be a bit different because of the coronavirus pandemic. The university’s Facebook page said the Labor of Love project will be observed Sept. 4 through Sept. 7. UC students will be part of a virtual read aloud program and writing notes of encouragement to veterans, nursing home residents and health care workers. The video said they also will be doing litter cleanup, participating in community art projects and mask making. The post said the university is shut down on Labor Day each year and classes are canceled to serve the community.
