You may have noticed US Navy training this week along the Kanawha River in Dunbar. The group focused on water rescues and hoisting practices which would have come in handy during flood response like we saw back in 2016. West Virginia’s Swift Water Rescue Team and the U.S. Navy teamed up for a day of training Wednesday that will help prepare them for search and rescue missions during natural disasters. The training is part of a two-week cycle bringing more than 100 members of the Navy to the Charleston area.
