Twenty-seven of the state’s 55 counties were in red, orange or gold in the latest version of the West Virginia color alert system map. The state Department of Health and Human Resources map showed that Kanawha County remained in yellow, while Putnam stayed in orange and Cabell in gold. Wayne, Mingo, and Boone counties were also in orange. The key map for schools and high school athletics will come out Saturday, Nov. 29, at 5 p.m. The county alert system map is a daily snapshot of how each county is doing.
