An entire community is rallying behind one of its own after the city of Dunbar’s mayor-elect was seriously injured in a hunting accident. Family-friends said Scott Elliott dedicated his entire life to public service, and WCHS TV reported now they are paying him back.
Before running for mayor, Elliott served more than 20 years with the Dunbar Police Department. He is the current public works director for the city and an Army veteran. Elliott was hurt while hunting last Friday, and after several hours in surgery, doctors could not save his arm. Many of Elliot’s family friends have started a GoFundMe in his honor to help pay for medical bills.
