Kanawha County Commission President Kent Carper confirmed at least four people were taken to the hospital after an explosion at the Chemours plant in Belle late Tuesday night. The explosion happened in the Optima Chemical operations area of the plant, but they’re unsure if any chemicals were involved. A shelter in place was issued while leaders at the plant made sure a second explosion would not happen, and that covered a two-mile radius around the plant.
