A man police say shot and killed Charleston police officer Cassie Johnson was officially charged with her murder on Saturday. 38-year old Joshua Phillips of Charleston was also shot and has been hospitalized. Johnson was responding to a parking complaint on Garrison Avenue when she encountered Phillips, and a scuffle followed. Phillips was shot twice in the chest and abdomen area, and Johnson was shot once. WCHS TV reporte three people were arrested the following Friday in connection with a drug investigation at a house on Garrison Ave. associated with the investigation into Johnson’s murder. Sheriff’s detectives said Phillips was at the home to buy drugs just before the shooting and left with dozens of pills that were found in his pants after the shooting. Phillips was out on bond in a previous case at the time of the shooting.
