There’s been some improvement where COVID-19 cases are concerned. Orange has taken over as the dominant color on the county alert system map, with twenty-nine counties in that color on the map posted Monday by the state Department of Health and Human Resources. Seventeen counties were in red including Mingo and Nicholas. Kanawha, Putnam and Cabell counties remained in orange, along with Wayne, Lincoln, Logan, Jackson, Roane, Wyoming, and several others. Fayette County is in gold. High Schools begin in-person learning today as long as the county is not red, and lower grades are in person regardless of map color.
