Schools Will Move to In-Person Learning January 19th

Governor Jim Justice said students will go back to the classroom five days a week starting January 19th, no matter what color the county is on the COVID-19 map. West Virginia Education Association President Dale Lee said educators were not consulted about the decision and the announcement came as a bit of a surprise. Some schools have been back and forth from remote to in-person learning since the pandemic began. The governor wants academic performance to improve, and that weighed into the decision to return to in-person learning. And, the governor has promised to vaccinate teachers and school workers over age 50 because they are in higher risk categories.
