The state Department of Health and Human Resources is confirming the first case of the UK variant of COVID-19 in West Virginia. The variant was detected in three cases in north central part of the state, and health officials say it’s motivation to double down on prevention efforts. The UK strain of the virus is more contagious and spreads more quickly.
