Man is arrested for an illegal deer kill

A Summers County man is facing charges after Milton police say he shot a deer that confronted his dog. 20-year old Samuel Sutherland of Hinton was arrested for shooting within 500 feet of a dwelling, allowing a dog to run wildlife and taking game out of season, according to the Milton Police Department. Police say Sutherland’s dog ran off from him Sunday afternoon at a GoMart and began chasing a deer. Sutherland followed after the dog and saw the deer run into a creek and then turn to confront the dog, and Sutherland then shot the deer while standing in someone’s yard. Sutherland was arrested and taken to jail.
