A K-9 with the Mason County Sheriff’s Office tracked a hit-and-run suspect and helped point officers in the right direction so they could make an arrest at a nearby home. K-9 Nico and his handler Cpl. Jeremy Ferrell started tracking a suspect Monday in a wooded tract of the Cornstalk wildlife area after a hit and run Monday evening on U.S. 35, according to a Facebook post from the Mason County Sheriff’s Office. They tracked the suspect to a home about three-quarters of a mile away from the abandoned vehicle, and they took the suspect into custody. WCHS TV reported James Gibson was arrested, and State Police from Mason and Cabell counties assisted.
