Warrant is Issued Related to 5-Year-Old Boy’s Accidental Shooting

Charleston police said a warrant is out for a Dunbar man after a 5-year-old boy shot himself in the leg. James Brown faces a warrant for child neglect resulting in injury and persons prohibited from possessing firearms, according to the Charleston Police Department. A gun went off Feb. 28 and the boy was taken to Charleston Area Medical Center Women and Children’s Hospital.
Police learned the boy was in a parked vehicle in the 100 block of Kanawha Boulevard East in Charleston and accessed the gun while Brown left him alone in the car.
